Javens Bloodhounds- Owner: Cody Javens

Hey everyone Cody here, just wanted to say a special Thanks for visiting my page! I also wanted to share my story with you... I've have been raising Bloodhounds on our family farm since November 2015. So, everyone asks ... Why Bloodhounds? What made me fall in LOVE with the breed? 

​

Aside from their adorable faces, the wrinkles, and sad eyes- I actually witnessed first-hand on how remarkable this breed truly is!! 

​

In 2014 the neighboring Counties in WV brought their Bloodhounds and Handlers for a training exercise which demonstrated how incredible their nose truly is! I watched in awe   as the one officer showed my family a pop can with ashes of the pretend offenders' shirt inside. They then buried it for each of the hounds to find and recognize the scent to begin tracking the "criminal". At that time, we were fascinated! I knew what Bloodhounds looked like, and that they were used by Law Enforcement-but not to what extent they could do. One-by-one each Bloodhound in this exercise was able to locate the scent, put their paws up to the door (where the guy was hiding) then put their paws on the actual person-in a room full of people!! That day I said this is the breed we want to share with others!! Not only did I get to interact with the Bloodhounds and their handlers, but they used my families auto repair garage to hide the "bad guy"!!

At first, I just wanted to be a Bloodhound owner, so we searched and finally found a really exceptional family in Pennsylvania where Chief came from! Seeing his face, I knew he was the one and his breeder took the time to answer any questions we had- still to this day we keep in touch! (Salena & Dewayne King).

 This isn't a job, this isn't extra income, this isn't a business ... this is sharing my love for the breed- talking about Hounds, and meeting friends along the way who chose one of our babies to join their family!! 

 

 

Owning a Bloodhound takes patience, understanding and more patience -I will never sugar coat it for you as this breed isn't for just anyone. They are in no way shape or form what T.V., or pictures of them laying around makes them out to being!

 

In order to place the puppies in the best of homes I want to ensure the owner(s) are up for any challenges they may face! Please do your research before choosing to add a Bloodhound into your home. 

 

 

The thing that sets me apart from others out there is this- I want to stay in touch after the puppy leaves our farm, meaning this... If you have any questions/concerns along the way our family is only a phone call away!
